The Office of Film + Music would like to thank everyone that was involved in creating a night to remember at the first inaugural Seattle City of Music Awards on October 14 at Showbox at the Market. We presented awards in three categories:

Quincy Jones received the Seattle City of Music Award for Outstanding Achievement via a video acceptance speech for his lifetime of accomplishments that helped put Seattle on the map as Seattle City of Music. Jazz legend Buddy Catlett accepted the award, presented by Leslie Jackson Chihuly, on Mr. Jones' behalf.

Fleet Foxes received the Seattle City of Music Breakthrough Award, which honors an artist for overwhelming success in the past year. Aja Pecknold, the band's manager, presented the award.

KEXP received the Seattle City of Music Impact Award for service related to music that has made the community a better place. Jonathan Poneman, co-founder of Sub Pop Records, presented the award.

It was great to have so many members of the music community in one room to celebrate this past year in the local music scene and to look forward together. Special thanks for fantastic performances by More Music @ the Moore, The Maldives, Pearly Gate Music, Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra and Tea Cozies. It was truly a night to remember for the City of Music and we can’t wait to do it again next year!

Photos from the evening are now up here!
