SAVE THE DATE FOR THE SEATTLE CITY OF MUSIC AWARDS
The second annual Seattle City of Music Awards are right around the corner, mark your calendars now.
Wednesday, October 6
Doors at 7pm
The Showbox At The Market
Stay tuned for a big announcement September 14, when we will publicize event details, ticket availability and reveal our deserving recipients.
This annual event is an evening of celebration in honor of the vibrant and vital Seattle music scene. Representing a wide breadth of genres from the impressive pool of musical talents, the awards recognize individuals and institutions that truly make Seattle the City of Music. We will be presenting awards in three categories; the Seattle City of Music Impact Award for service related to music that has made the community a better place, the Seattle City of Music Breakthrough Award honors an artist for overwhelming success in the past year and the Seattle City of Music Award for Outstanding Achievement, which is a tribute to an individual who has left a legacy of musical achievement.
We are proud to present this evening of festivity and commemoration (and music!) and hope you will join us.
Becoming a Media Partner
It is our goal to make Seattle the best music city in the world, and we're hoping that you will join us by contributing to our new Live Music Suggestion Calendar. This calendar will become one of the cornerstones of the City of Music initiative, and a great way for us to help build energy and buzz around live music in the city.
We are asking you, along with several of the city's most respected media resources, to provide informed and reliable daily music suggestions. We want to show all the aspects of Seattle music, from hip-hop to jazz to rock, and support all of the city's creativity. This calendar will be a valuable resource for the music community; it will create a central location for Seattleites to find music listings, help to expand the music community by reaching new audiences, and help our great local bands get the audience they deserve.
To become a part of this project, we would ask that you will follow a few simple guidelines:
Suggest at least one show or music event every day, for at least five days each week.
Suggested shows at local or nearby venues only.
You must provide an RSS 2.0 feed, which includes the event listing's name, date, venue, and a brief description of the event in no more than 200 characters, which we will use to automatically populate the City of Music online calendar.
Support local music! National acts are welcome, but we hope you will help bring attention to the great local acts that are still showing that Seattle is the City of Music.
In return for your efforts to promote Seattle music, we will prominently feature you as a partner of City of Music and promote your organization in all of our materials. We will feature your organization on the front page of the new City of Music website, on a future mobile application, and all City of Music events and future projects. As a foundation of this project, your organization will be privy to the benefits of our outreach. We hope you will join is in making Seattle the best music city in the world!
